Asheville Inspired

The last time we were in Asheville, I found this great centerpiece bead at a little shop in the downtown area. I had visions of a necklace, so I made one. Then, the first time I wore it, it busted...in my office...beads everywhere...I was sad. Well, after a year of being shuffled around and subsequently buried, the remnants resurfaced recently as I found order with my craft desk. So, now it has a new life (strung correctly this time) and it shall adorn my neck once again!

PS: Should you find yourself in Asheville, NC, be sure to visit "Woolworth's", a great place where local artists sell their wares. And of course, the little bead shoppe in the brick-lined alley.

So Quiet.

Tonight I had the undesirable task of retrieving logs for the woodstove. After a flirt with spring earlier this month, that bone-chilling crunch under my feet has returned. I'm struck how quiet it is out there, and how hard it is to deny the beauty of a fresh snowfall. It makes the dead and ugly, look beautiful.

I heard a report recently that snow was trucked to a school field in Miami so the kids could experience it. I can't image what it would be like to not know snow. It gives me an appreciation for the change of seasons, no matter what the thermometer says.

Today's Thought…

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without words,
And never stops at all.

Third time’s a charm

14 months of patience, a super-sale, and a sweet hubby are the reasons for this room’s third transformation in 8 years. Finally, we can accommodate more than two guests for a meal! Bye-bye unused living room, hello dining room...boy was this a fun (and heavy!) project. Before and after below.

Welcome!

With the new year fresh, I've been hearing the phrase "2008 is going to be great". Now, what will these people say made their year great come December 31? What would I say?

This question has lead me here, to my first blog. A big deal for a self-proclaimed technology scrooge. But, alas...here I am!

The goal of this blog is to make my 2008 creatively great, as I continue to experience the convergence of art and life...and follow my bliss!
